I've wanted to get into Prince for a long time because a lot of my faves are obviously inspired by him. But I just checked and he has 30+ albums, where the **** am I supposed to start besides Purple Rain?

I think the album who has Sign Of The Times on it, is his best.

I say Greatest Hits/Best of albums are the only way to really catch up on an artist to see if you truly like them. He has a few of those.

start with his self-titled album (you could do the album before which is his first but it's not necessary) and then end with Sign O The Times (if you want to go a little further than end with Love Symbol Album)

Right. The best thing you can do in these scenarios is listen to The Greatest Hits and find out from which albums had the strongest tracks.

I hate when Legends have to much discography. Getting into Otis Redding was such a fail for me

Sign 'O The Times was a commercial dry spell for Prince, aside from his top 10 singles, but it's one of his most well-known/signature albums.
