Oh my god, this is actually very shocking to me, even as a stan of hers who follows everything she does. It also terrifies me to death. I really hope she'll be okay. She's a fighter, so that does give me hope.
As for this thread, I am speechless at some of the replies. The rudeness and lack of understanding by some of the posters here is beyond disappointing, especially considering that their dislike of Gaga herself is likely the root of some of this incivility. Depression is a serious illness that can affect literally
any person from
any demographic. Do
not say that she can't be affected by a disease just because she's a rich white American, as that is ignorant and incorrect. Sure, she has more money and resources to help fight it, and the demographic she lies in is more than likely at less of a risk statistically of suffering from the disease, but it is still possible for a person of her standing to be afflicted by it, especially considering she is beat down daily by so many people in the world. (This is especially noteworthy because she is very self-aware, and knows what many people actually think of her.)
Depression is a delicate topic, so for her to be strong enough to openly admit her disease is very brave, and I applaud her for doing it, if only because she may influence her fans to stop the stigma surrounding mental illnesses. I love you Gaga, and I do hope you'll make it through this.
