Well, Run the World is currently selling more Toxic in the U.K. too.
You haven't. But it's alright, as you cannot. The GP prefers Beyoncé's singles over Britney's. That's a fact and that's the way it is.
|
GH's FYI including all artists hits and this album is about singles. And again her catalog album sales (studio albums) are stronger than Britney's because Britney again has bunch of compilations.
I can. She's been on 2 tours right? She had bigger promo (Grammys, VMA obviously), all that hype around album, media speculations about divorce, Solange - Jay Z incident... All of that had effected on her sales obviously.

- She was banned from radio during 'Britney' era + Me Against The Music
- Radio completely ignored Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know, 'Blackout' era
- Only physical releases that Britney released in US during 2000's are: Oops!...I Did It Again (Only 60k/limited edition), Stronger, Me Against The Music.
- Rest was completely limited to few thousands of copies
Is that enough?
And again US is just part of the world. We know who is 'Best selling female artist of the decade WW'.

The EXCUSES!!! Omg!!!
The reason she wasn't named the Female Artist of the Decade was because she WASN'T. All she accomplished in those "iconic" and "record breaking" moments of her career weren't enough. Especially in comparison to Beyoncé's career and accomplishments.

Bey hasn't even sold an album 10M WW let alone In the U.S. alone.
Britney has the stronger catalogue.
|
Beyoncé (solo) wasn't around when Britney released those two albums which represent more than 50% of Britney's total album sales and this is not something to be proud of.
Do you even know what a catalogue is? It doesn't matter how much people liked a Britney single upon its release. What MATTERS IS NOW, and now, the GP clearly prefers Beyoncé's singles because they are memorable.

I'd hope so considering she perfoms the songs wayyyy more than Britney does.
All the festivals she's done this decade alone, she's had 2 tours with over 180 dates combined and did a superbowl perfomance, those songs aren't selling themselves.

OMG, I didn't saw this.
Billboard is chart site, it's all about charts. Do you understand? CHARTS.
And those are reasons why she couldn't be Billboard Female Artist of the Decande.
I'm literally dead with your knowledge.

Beyoncé has sold millions. With DC and without. And she continues to do so. I don't care how many albums Britney sold with her first two albums, obviously neither did Billboard. Beyoncé has the more impressive career considering she took the title when Brit was supposedly "ruling".

Britney's compilation sales aren't huge. And yet, when Crazy in Love sells 3K per week, it's still more than what ...Baby One More Time sells per week (1K) as an individual track and on its parent album and Britney's compilations.
As I said before, Beyoncé's catalog sales have ALWAYS been stronger than Britney's. Stop trying, honestly, because I'll swear I'll come back to you with receipts when Bey will be on a hiatus. Ooh, but she was on one in 2012 and guess who was selling more back then.

There's a reason Bey still has to do promo non-stop to get people to buy her hits while Britney can actually move catalogue units without doing performances in years.

You mean because Beyonce paid for payola from 2003-2005 (i.e. the entire DiL era) and BB weighed radioplay heavily? Bey wasn't even half as big as Britney from 2000-2009

ColdFire already made the point that Britney has released two greatest hits albums that would of course divide the sales of her songs bae. Unless we find a way to adequately account for those, I'd go for the one of the best selling singles of all time pre-iTunes era.
Of course, tell me more about the correlation between the iconic-ness of the song and its status as a catalog seller? Wouldn't there be other factors involved such as the sound of Beyonce's genre not shifting as drastically compared to the pop genre Britney's in? Even IF you somehow find a way to twist that BOMT is a better "catalog seller", the song represented an era of music. If people aren't buying it as much anymore, it doesn't take away how iconic is and how it's remained in the hearts of people.

Beyonce just got out of 2 world tours, your catalog sales excuse is completely invalid.
Also to add that no one cares about a song selling 200 copies per year, years after it's release, only a person with nothing to do with their life would investigate about that.

Bey's solo album was released in 2003, not 2013 and DiL and Bday sold 9M and 6.5M together to bring a total of 15.5M which is half of Bey's total album sales, just like Brit and considering Bey is more active now then I don't know why you make it seem like people just buy her music for nostalgia, like she doesn't perfom them every chance she gets.
Brit sold more albums because people prefer her discography generally to Bey's.

Why would someone even buy ...Baby One More Time in U.S. again. They have it on albums (14,2M) + single alone (2M) + Greatest Hits (2,2M) = 18,4M
Well not everyone are obsessed to have more copies of it.

Of course not. But being proud of this would mean Britney's career is based off of that album only.

And how do you explain her low catalog single sales?
We are talking about MEMORABLE singles. Can you tell me how Britney's singles can be more memorable when they have less catalog sales and streams than Beyoncé's?
