I think it shows promise. Remember, you have to set up events and give the characters time to make an impression on the audience.

When something happens, knowing why it's happening makes it more fulfilling.

When somebody dies, you're not going to care if you aren't invested in them. Like when Meep The Geek showed up dead. I didn't really care because I think we saw him on screen like 3 times. But if Jessica Lange's character dies, it'll probably hit hard because we've spent time getting to know Elsa and her struggle. Same goes with everyone else

He was worthless, just used as shock value to care more for the freaks, he was the meek and vulnerable one, an easy kill to gain emotional value.

Jimmy is getting annoying like any other character Evan has portrayed. I'm glad Dell smacked him around a couple times, he's right, no one will see the show if they run around town. Plus Elsa is way past her prime, why should I feel sorry for this old hag? Run the show and get the money, why bother with much else? Her trying to kill Dot is such a step back for her overall character.

I think this season may be trying to hard to make a statement and that's kind of holding the show back.

The message the season is going for would come across naturally without reminding us every five seconds that people are different and if the show took less time to explicitly spell that message out we could get more character and plot development.

But it's only the second episode, things could get better.

I think they try to put too much umph into Evan's characters and it seems overblown at times. His nice guy gets angry thing is much like what he did in Coven as a zombie boy before he was done correctly by Fiona


I think what the main thing with Elsa is that she wants to be a star. This freakshow is secondary. It's either a way to be discovered or a way of life until something better happens. It's pretty clear from the first two episodes that she has a star complex and has tried to become famous for a long time. I'm guessing is that her handicap either stopped her career while it was still young or prevented her in the first place. She wants to kill Dot because she's jealous. Even with all those freaks she still imagines herself to be the main attraction, the headliner, the star. But after Dot proved to be so popular, you could see it in Elsa's face. I knew at that moment Dot was marked.

I think Coven had the same problems. Coven was over-run with so many social problems and metaphors that I lost count.

Hopefully it's just a beginning "we're like everyone else and want to live normally" and it'll fade and become less obvious.

Evan is just eye candy lol. The new guy that plays Dandy knows how to play the right amount of camp required for this show yet never goes too over the top (Bates is also really good at this; Conroy too). Kinda over his storylines, he's better as support.

I think that's the issue with all of the seasons but then again it makes the show and the different issues makes it easier to latch on to one more than the others. Murder House: Infidelity, Asylum: Sanity, Coven: Oppression, Freakshow: Being an Outsider

I still think Coven was a good season and necessary for the show (specially toward the GP) It could have been tweaked a bit but overall it had a better and more cohesive plot than Asylum which was all over the place and unnecessary characters were added just to be darker since it was so easy to yo do so, it's about insanity, you could do anything. Coven handled its theme very well until the end where they had to tie everything up asap. Asylum had award winning twists but it felt more like shock value more than anything and that's why Lana's character is so praised, she was in the middle of it all. Plus It's cinematography helped a lot too which was great for the show and the time period too. You don't know how it really turns out, you just go by assumptions which make it scarier on top of the few outer this world sources like the Devil and Aliens.

I enjoy Freakshow for what it is, seeing Meep get attacked might have made it worse this episode, seeing a somewhat innocent and vulnerable being tortured would bring anyone down.

Dandy being a psychopath is the best thing so far along with Twisty being his idol, its so real and possible, im sure we will find out how and why later. Elsa's story is worthless along with with Bette and Dot unless they take a turn which could happen but it's predictable. Jimmy and Del along with Kathy and Angela are just added drama though I hope they go further with the characters.

If anything, I want to tell you that don't like it so far to stick with it until around half way and then choose to drop off of the viewership. Even shows like Breaking Bad, Dexter, etc were all quite bland in the beginning in order to set up important characters. Just give it a chance, I can tell something big is coming.

General Discussion:


- I think Twisty is one of the best characters and one of the best performances so far. The actors eyes speak better than words could, especially with such a freakish character.
- Sarah SLAYED Criminal
- Patti Labelle did really well, even with her limited screen time.
- I wish they had of given the role of the kidnapped girl to Lily Rabe or something because her freak out scenes are the best
- So far: Asylum > Murder House > Freak Show > Coven
