I grew up with TLC, SWV, Blaque, 702, Toni Braxton, Keith Sweat, Aaliyah, R. Kelly, Monica, Brandy, Salt N Pepa....there are so many I am forgetting but whoa! The 90s were so much better musically. Even Madonna's dips into R&B (1994's BS) and TAB/Secret were perfection. I miss the 90s so ****ing badly.
ANYWAY LMAO...B is NOT R&B she is label as an R&B Artist because she Black...Beyonce music is POP...Christina Aguilera is more R&B than Beyonce and Rihanna!!!
Now that I think about it, I think we blame Beyoncé as well. Before I explain why, Beyonce is one of my all time favorite artists and I absolutely love her BUT, thinking about it, she has been the leader for years now and she has yet to bring something that is innovative to the table. Her R&B lacks substance and diversity, and unfortunately, all the other bitches follow her lead. Her booty-shaking and mindless diva **** anthems have changed R&B music for the WORSE.
I really hate to say this *risking getting flamed by the Beyonce fans* but I agree with you.
Ne-Yo's good....but do you think he's gonna be good enough to save R&B in general along with Usher? I hope so.
Ashanti's been a disappointment for me the last several years after an amazing 2002-2005 run.
Christina Milian's been somewhat forgotten and I still love her too.

For me it died when pop artists started to feature r&b and hip-hop artists on their songs and viceversa. We got stuff like Christina Aguilera ft Alicia Keys ("Impossible"), Britney ft Pharrell ("Boys"), Eminem ft Dido ("Stan"), Eve ft Gwen ("Let me Blow ya Mind") etc, which, don't get me wrong, are amazing, but that's when the line between pop and urban started to blur and then it was just a matter of time before r&b began losing it's flawless status
I really miss the old days when pop and r&b were conceived as 2 different entities and we had artists like Montell Jordan, Next, Dru Hill, Blackstreet, Keith Sweat, TLC, Monica, Ginuwine, Total, 112 among many many others
Christina was always more RnB than pop in my mind so that song with Alicia was only and extension of what great music we knew she could make back then...as for now i do agree with Mazen...Beyonce SOLD OUT!!!!! if she can give me a true RnB album like Dangerously In Love...then i'd have more respect for her...Beyonce walks around claiming RnB when she has really conformed to Pop culture ish...don't get me wrong i love pop music but when artist start to cross over and do **** they know they don't wanna do, how the **** does that make u an artist??? it only makes u a tool....and for that reason is why i think RnB is dead...it's ppl like Alicia, Mary, Jon B, Montell, Jahiem and so many other ppl im forggeting is the reason why ppl even think RnB still exist and anyone who wants to go against me try me!

BEYONCE WAS NEVER A Solo RnB ARTIST!
Let me try to break it down!
Even in B's Destiny's Child years she was POP!
As soon as Wyclef Jean remix "No No No" That's when they got HUGE!!! WHY?
Because when Destiny's Child was starting out...POP music was in..Artist Like the backstreet boys, 'N Sync etc...Were killing the charts.
When Destiny's Child crossover to POP and got success as a POP group, they Never went back.
I bet you alot of people didn't know about this Version!
BTW: If u think the Artist u list, Never crossover to POP...Then u are Delirious
But since we are blaming Beyonce for the Death of RnB Music...We should also Balme her for the War & The Economy
