It's a well known fact artists such as Katy Perry and Rihanna benefit largely from songwriting camps, which is exactly like it sounds. He's saying he doesn't want any part in that scene, and would rather spend his time working with other musicians one-on-one, like he did with Taylor Swift. This really isn't a hard concept.
Exactly... He only used them as examples because they are two of the major pop girls.
Why can't ppl just make good music and stop worrying about what the next writer/artist is doing.

I just don't get ATRL's obsession with singers writing their own songs.
It's a bonus, but the gp doesn't think about all of that when their purchasing the music.
they're not. they're producers.. writing camps contain a ****-ton of people. 5 people that comprise the Luke team(including Katy) is not a goddamn writing camp. educate yourself
