I'm glad you told me to. It works much better for me the second time. First I feel like its the first time I get to listen to a Taylor song and not fuss with "what is it?". Its just a pure pop song so I can sit back and enjoy, cause I love pop music. Probably if this were not TS with all the baggage I would give it a lot more clearance. But since it is "the voice of a generation", I guess I must judge it as such. A title like Out of the Woods, I think conjures so many images if what it could be, that it becomes a let down when you realize it is just another "we are so misunderstood that "we" don't even understand us. How cool are we"! And the songs say absolutely nothing. I really want Taylor to start showing some substance. Create a theme, flesh it out with some lyrics that create a mood related to the theme. Not to go all "Carrie Underwood" on us, but with the help of professional writers she comes up with these ideas and themes and she sees them through the song to a resolution at the end. Taylors music rarely if ever does that. She can write something like "the monsters were only trees" and the world goes Gaga, its like they are programmed to. OR maybe teenagers just don't have anymore depth at this age of development to realize that these are very simple ideas and they are not terribly creative. They are whimsical, and that is cool, but thought provoking or even thoughtful, they are not!

But listening to it again was much more satisfying , and I like the production a lot. I don't mind repetition, I do understand its purpose. Its just that it is starting to look like a pattern with her that can get...well....repetitive is she uses it too much...

As a stand alone pop tune, I would give it a C+. But with the expectations that the world tells me she is a genius, I have to give it a C-. You expect more from geniuses I guess...

Re: above
Lol that pk from carriefans gives me such a warm glowing feeling of humor, they always sound so stupidly pompous and narrow-minded yet completely unaware.

If she would have topped France, Italy and Germany then it would have been more perfect

IKR

[Taylor Swift]

She retweeted Chloe. Honestly, I believe she's seen Meghan's tweets and covers.

[Taylor Swift]

1989 sessioners, is the album full of songs having repetitive choruses? Or did most of them say it's only OOTW that's repetitive?

Her slayage this era is just

[BlueMoon77]

Now that I have had a while to process it, that chorus really does fit the song, and it gets seared into your brain SO HOLY

[WeFoundWill]

the only song catching up on OOTW being Shake It Off

[WeFoundWill]

It'll most likely top german Itunes pretty soon

[Taylor Swift]

I won't be disappointed if OOTW isn't a single in the future, people who have heard the album have already hyped other songs on the album. Like Style, Bad Blood, media perception song - looking forward to those as potential singles.

Germany has been stanning this era. Loves it! Hopefully she'll do more than one show their like Speak Now and Red tour.

If you don't like OOTW

[av98]

idk how i feel about out of the woods. the fans who listened said that OOTW is the 2nd worst song. idk how i feel. i think itll grow. I LOVE THE INTRO and Chorus and first verse and instrumental. how much do you think she'll open with? I think 500k is safe. ANd most likely 700k. Maybe 1 mil-1.3 mil

[BlueMoon77]

The second worst song?? I've never heard anybody say that about OOTW

If that's the case then DAMN!! This is going to be one hell of an album and probably her highest acclaimed

Definitely 500k. OOTW went no. 1 in like what 1 and a half hours????? I mean the GP is so ready for a fresh album coated with an 80s vibe produced by geniuses, with lyrics easy enough to sing along and melodies to jam to.
I believe in her, it's gonna do great.

[atishvaze]

She always releases second single as ballads so maybe we get one of the those ballad as second single
