I was ready to hate hard but it was because my headphones were half in LOL. I don't like her but I like the song, however it's extremely forgettable. This is because the song is reliant on atmosphere more than melody or catchy lyrics. I assume this isn't a single and is just supposed to give us an idea of the sound of the album, right? If so I'm sure it was a good choice. If it is a single then it was a bad choice.
Does she have to be so basic with her lyrics? And so obvious?I know she's a country songwriter and they are just plain/honest with everything but she could leave some mystery/interpretation left to the imagination instead of putting all of the men she's been with on blast lol. I mean sis.
I don't know why she has such a huge following, she's very basic.
it makes me mad how good the production of the song is and how lackluster her vocal delivery is... also the chorus. Like if this song was given to someone with powerhouse vocals and the chorus was reworked a bit, it could be an ANTHEM... Taylor just didn't do it for me this time

Literally nobody from pop field writes lyrics as good as Taylor. Its not even debatable.

Ok. I sat on this song for awhile, and I (kinda) like it. I see that she was going for that 80's power midtempo ala Roxette (look them up if you don't know who they are), and it kinda fell flat in places. The production is frantic and anthemic , but she doesn't have the vocal chops to take it home. This would have really given me chills if P!nk or Kelly Clarkson sang it and that's no shade.
It sounds like a reject from the Lion King soundtrack. 0/2 and I have loved her previous albums and am a massive 80s music fan. There are still 11 other tracks, so here's hoping.

lol, except she's the best writer in pop probably...
This is a cute song, almost feels like it could be a big stadium type anthem. I don't know if anyone else got the vibe. Perfect for this time of year.

what the delivery is amazing! it may not be 'powerful' but it conveys the emotions of the story
i.e the chorus repeating rapidly to convey urgency

My sister said the same But I don't think this sounds like a song from the Lion King.
