The story may be good, but I know the film is horrible, without having to see a single scene. "Gone Girl" is staying afloat due to the power of the director's name: David Fincher.
I find it so hilarious... the thought of "Gone Girl" being a good movie. Don't let the hype machine fool you. Ben Affleck is a bad actor, and Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry are even worse actors than Ben Affleck, if that's even possible. There's no way in hell that "Gone Girl" is good. The story may be good, but I know the film is horrible, without having to see a single scene. "Gone Girl" is staying afloat due to the power of the director's name: David Fincher, not because it's a good film. They had to leak information about Affleck's penis, not Ben Affleck's acting, but Ben Affleck's penis, to get people into theaters. That says it all.

By good story, I was referring to the book. But for argument-sake, let's say the book was actually adapted well into a film (I heard "Gone Girl" wasn't adapted well): A good adaption + good director + bad actors = bad movie. Bad actors will always equal a bad movie, P.

Anyway, regardless of what you thought of GG, its success is a good thing. An "event" movie based on a bestseller that's not about dystopian teens and is rated R and aimed at adults.
