Yes I knew of the remake and downloaded it. Im always reluctant to watch remakes especially US remakes of foreign films cause they usually suck. But Ill watch this as Ive heard its actually good. It cant possibly match the power of the original though.

Did you know that Eli was actually a boy who had been castrated before being turned into a vampire? Its only hinted at in the film when she says "Im not a girl". Most viewers thought she just meant that she was a centuries old vampire. Theres a split second scene in the original where you see the scar as she undresses. Another thing they avoided in the film is that the old guy she lives with is a pedophile. They thought it would be too distracting. But it explains why she seems to hate him so much.

The overwhelming negative response to Annabelle here, social sites and among my acquaintances had me skip it tonight in favor of Gone Girl. I'll probably still go see it matinee, middle of a day of.

I saw Annabelle tonight and... it was LAME. I purposely avoided all trailers and commercials so that the scares wouldn't be spoiled for me (like with The Conjuring) and I still wasn't scared. I jumped like, 3 times, and that was more of me wanting to be scared than actually being scared. There was no tension and it never felt like it actually climaxed. What a disappointment.

Where was the Battle of the Scream Queens the Soskas promised us in interviews? I only saw one potential final girl (Danielle Harris), did anyone really expect Katharine Isabelle, the Corpse-Rider, or Chelan Simmons, the blonde in love with the token a-hole, to make it? The whole movie had a very strong been-there-seen-that feel to it, though a few things managed to salvage it: mainly Katharine Isabelle (who stole the show, absolutely hilarious), Kaj Erik-Eriksen as the male lead (cute and likeable), and the Soskas directing (managing to make the film kind of creepy at times)

Danielle Harris was so weak too. What happened to her? She overacted so much in this </3
But yeah, hugely let down

EDIT: And I forgot to mention, that ending was BULL***T

The Guest is fantastically fun. It reminded me of John Carpenter's 'Halloween' in a lot of ways, but it's a sort of winking, knowing retro throwback movie.

Also omg Dan Stevens is hot.

Had low expectations for Annabelle, but it ended up being better than I expected. I kinda like how the "real" doll made a cameo appearance.

The demon was more funny, than scary.

Also, I just recently got the Halloween complete collection deluxe edition on blu-ray!

Those were all pretty solid. IF we go further than 2013/2014 I'm sure I can pull some more... obscure ones that slay favs out of my list tho

I just got back from it...

I literally wanted to leave. It was SO slow, like not the good kind of build-up slow. Just SLOW. Hell, it honestly felt like nothing happened the entire movie.

The elevator scene, I was hyped for since everyone pointed that out here. Sorry but It was so anti-climatic. And the demon was.

I felt no kind of tension like throughout The Conjuring, and as far as their attempted jump scares - the only one that got me was when the priest tried to enter the church and got kicked back. That was really unexpected, but that's because I was hoping he'd go in and some sh!t would really go down. The rest were cardboard, and basically rehashed what Wan already did in Insidious/Conjuring (curtains, people running, walking in one room-appearing in another, etc.)

Oh well, they got my $11. No need to rant.
