It's very easy to justify. He's free to sexually exploit himself and use cheap pandering tactics as he pleases. A man objectifying himself instead of the female form for a change is not a bad thing imo. I've actually found it amusing (both his desperation and the confused public reaction).

It's not gonna happen, at least not now, not on this album, where Atlantic looks to be trying to turn her into a somewhat mainstream artist. Maybe if Sucker and all its other singles flop they'll let her go back to her more experimental indie sounding stuff (if they don't drop her) but yeah, no, don't get your hopes up.

That said, "Boom Clap" is easily in the same league as "Nuclear Seasons." If she manages to put out more songs of that caliber on the album I'll be pleased.

The lyrics are the least of Break The Rules's problems. That weaksauce Avicii-lite breakdown is quite possibly the nadir of Charli's whole discography, save for maybe that Brooke verse on Cloud Aura.

In fact, if not for that, it'd be a solid song. The lyrics as they are are simple but irreverent. I suppose people will try to drag her for talking about "not going to school" when she's like 22 but really that sounds suspiciously like one of those ageist, sexist "act your age" complaints that get lobbed at Madonna and Taylor and so on.
