Alexandra Cowley was given an exclusive invitation to attend the listening session of Swift's new album on Saturday Night. Swift sat in a chair in her living room with all of her fans crowded around her. Some sat on couches, others on oversized pillows on the floor. Eyes were locked on Swift as she played every song on the album through a Bose speaker. She explained the inspiration for each song on '1989,' hence the 89 fans invited. Taylor wore a plaid wool skirt with a black crop top and black lace-up booties. Of course, she rocked her signature red lipstick.
There was an impressive amount of food which included pizza, cheeseburgers, sushi, and soft drinks. Fans were able to chat with swift and have a polaroid picture taken with her. *Everyone was sent home with a swag bag full of T-Swift shirts, calendars, and a key chain which read 1989 Listening Session.*
Swift has now held four of these parties at her home in NYC, in LA, and at her parent's home in Nashville. The party in Westerly was*the final one.
Cowley spoke with Swift's parents, Scott and Andrea, who were also at the event. Mom Andrea looked classy and comfortable. She wore flowy black dress pants with a black top. Andrea said she feels like any mom would of a successful, happy daughter. She said "I'm as proud as any mother would be. Taylor has always known what she wants and works hard for it. I would support her no matter what path she chose in life."*
Her father Scott, also beaming with pride. Walking around greeting Taylor's fans and handing out Swift's guitar picks. He wore a plaid, long sleeve shirt tucked into khaki corduroy pants. Scott says he and Andrea would take turns touring with Taylor when she was younger, but now at 24, Taylor doesn't require as much parental guidance. Now, they juggle being with Taylor and visiting their son, 22-year-old Austin, who attends college at Notre Dame.*
These exclusive events have been dubbed "secret sessions" by her fans. Those invited were sworn to secrecy until after the event as to not create chaos.*
Swift baked cookies and Rice Krispie treats that she passed around to all her overwhelmed fans. On Sunday, Swift took off to Paris.*
