Don't sit here and discredit 'formulaic' pop music as if you're not on the same forum listening to it like the rest of us. There's actually something very challenging about writing / crafting a good, mindless pop song (which tend to be the best ones btw) instead of writing a pseudo-intellectual pop music that isn't as deep as it aims to be

Gimmie More and Piece of Me are really good songs. I hate when people look down on pop music just because it isn't filled with deep, thoughtful lyrics or animal sex and mating calls. Granted, not all of pop music is necessarily good, but it has its gems and duds like any genre.
