Until Katy proves that she can write anything other than a half-assed ballad without Luke/Bonnie/Max I am skeptical of how much "writing" actually makes it onto her albums.
I have no doubt that she is capable of writing music, and the old stuff I heard in her movie actually sounded nice. But I doubt the level of input she has in her music at the moment. There is no personality or any sort of distinctive traits that indicate she is the main writer across her discography. With legitimate songwriters, you can usually pick these out.
Oddly enough when Yzma forced me to listen to BonBon McGee's music, I felt like I was listening to Katy and Kesha songs. Huh.
Such a disappointment after Fireproof, which is one of my favorite 1D songs now.
