But of course. It's much safer for a straight man to pander to gays and feel good about himself (see: Macklemore) than for a gay man to actually be, well, gay.
Not saying Sam Smith needs to be a glittery queen, but all the leaked old pics show that he was much more flamboyant before entering the public eye.
