I love all sides of Nicki's music, but I don't think a straight harcore hip-hop album is too much to ask for in her career. I hope album 4 or 5 can do that.
On the flip side, I wouldn't mind a full pop album one day either.
The gay men stereotype needs to stop. Anaconda is not different from any other hip hop song except a girl raps it. Most straight guys think they are too cool & manly to listen to a song like that, but in reality they can't get it off their heads.
If straight men listened to Baby Got Back, then they should listen to Anaconda too, but they're too manly for that.

Straight men actually do love the song irl. They love the messiness and the humor.

She's rich enough to and it would let her focus solely on the music, not the commercial viability.

Think about it. I think it'll be the most "childish" song on the album, so why not put it first just to get it out of the way.
I know this is a really bad comparison but look at how Fergalicious was the opening song on The Dutchess.
Get the fun/not really meaningful song out of the way & then get into the lyrical/serious stuff.
