That's the thing, it wasn't sudden. People have been speculating this for YEARS and she even said she thinks about leaving on a daily basis for gods sake The only reason no one gave it the time of day was because they constantly proclaimed they were never going to split.it I do agree however that the way it was conducted also plays a major role in the reaction from fans/netizens.
P.S I tend to use a lot of hyphens when I'm angry
You can never predict the future
Like you and your boyfriend promise to be together forever, then the next day you break up
I believe they're friends since day 1 but something happened (Tyler Kwon) and it became a mess
Red Velvet will not be SM saving act. Being completely subjective, they don't have the concept, vocals. or diverse line up of skills to be able to be a strong contender against other girl groups. Will they do well, of course, however, they will not have the top success of SISTAR, 2NE1, SNSD, or MIss A on the fact they didn't have a hook. Happiness was not a good debut track because as seen in fancams, they only have gotten very young fans. All the other SM groups along with YG groups have a wide range of fans ranging for very young to old. That is the key for success of a new group. Thpugh people have shaded WINNER For coming with a boring debut title track, that track isn't something that a 20 year old causal listener would feel ashamed listening to in a car or with friends. Its not too bubblegum and its not overly crazy and weird. Its subtle.
It also will be the problem with Got7 and 15& later on. The way JYP has marketed both of them will lead them to failure. Got7 is good objectively but their main hook was their martial arts skills infused with their hip hop style which has not been demonstrated and unfortunately they may end up being outshined that the group that wasn't suppose to be their rivals iKON. 15& were two young vocalists who would wow the world with their vocals however once they get older that young charm will wear off.
Oh but sis, speculation is nothing compared to when something actually happens? People will always gossip, but nobody ever expects the ish they talk about to happen
And I'd imagine it would have only been Sones who speculated about members leaving, if even! This happening has reached a FAR bigger pool of people and the stunned reactions reflect that. It's cute that their fans thought they were never going to split because they said so and were "bonded" by friendship and cuddles. I thought it was more because they were/are the #1 group, making millions and bonded by law/contracts. I guess it goes to show you that's not even enough sometimes
P.S. Am I the only one who thinks that if this was Yoona, the situation would be so reversed? Like Korea would be in an uproar defending Yoona and the i-fans would be like, "Ehh, which one is she again?" - lol, not really saying that, but you get me!

Does SM have mind control powers? Like I swear, no matter the scandal, they will NEVER be in the line of fire
Tyler Kwon getting hate is the most annoying thing I've been reading from this. People like searching his ex's up and everything, as if that has any bearing on this. It's too damn much.
Meanwhile everyone is pro-SM, given the fact they were gonna lie and had all this planned/thought out. But no, Tyler is the bad one

But this isn't even personal! Sure, they could've started to hate her behind the scenes but that shouldn't affect their professional life, actually kicking her out of a group when she's dedicated a majority of her life to is not like "breaking up with your boyfriend". It's a lot worse.
It makes me even more sad to see how awful that performance was.
Like certain members giving it their all (as always) and certain members flopping around. THIS IS THE SONG THAT Y'ALL DEBUTED TO, IT SHOULD MEAN SOMETHING.
Sooyoung sis, you're my everything, why the **** are you lip synching 7 year old vocals?
Mess @ some of you gorlz doubting Red Velvet
SNSD and f(x) are old. They're "past their peak". SM needs Red Velvet to carry the company with EXO and they have the resources/connections to make them big.
Within the next year or so we'll have members going on variety shows, OSTs, dramas, MCing etc on top of multiple comebacks and that'll all help them strike the gold

Speak on it sis. That's what I was trying to say earlier. Maybe it's not very "third generation", but RV are definitely not a full concept. Keeping it 100 here. They have Wendy as a vocal, but aside from that ???? I have no problems with the other three, but what do they excel at? Why were they chosen amongst the thousands of others? Visuals? That's cute for a taste, but not for a swallow. Where is the dancer? Where is another vocalist? Like I dunno, there's no diversity to them.
I do however think it's way too early to shade them for their Happiness. Liken them to f(x), who debuted with LaChaTa. Look what they released since then! Of course they're aiming for young fans first off though. SM always do that. Debut with innocent images and then get more and more "mature" - if even, but you know what I mean.
I can see 15& being some sort of Davichi 2.0, but I also think they might work better as solos, the older they get

The korean public isn't into generic girl groups though. Red Velvet will become just a girl group mixed in the background as what is their defying image. SNSD had the 9 pretty girl next door concept. F(x) had the extremely experimental concept. 2NE1 had the fierce concept. What is Red Velvet defining image as they are no longer doing the hair.
A good debut sets a precedent on a basis that fans can rely on them to at least meet. You have to create a strong brand to last and to promote and I think that is something a lot of people don't realize. Thats why SISTAR, APINK, and Girls Day do very well without being BIG 3 is they set a standard they have to meet and everything they put out fits into their brand.

I just prove that "anything could happen"
They can kick her out because of some recently problem, but that doesn't mean they hate her since day one or day two, so i don't see anything with them proclaimed never going to breakup cuz they won't know how it'll turn out
Q actually is making excellent points. It's a really bad sign when it's Korean people that are saying they can't tell members apart

Sis, I'd like to think every artist should be Beyonce (i.e. perform CIL like it is still charting/holding the future in it's hands) after 7 years, but given the amount of promo SM make rookies do, I can't blame them for not performing a 7 year old song with their all. Let alone the time they practiced to it. And recorded it. And have performed it since.
We say RV must hate Happiness. Add 7 years onto that
At least SNSD have had bigger hits to balance it out...

F(x)was promoted though as Asia's Pop Dance Group. Which LaChaTa was a pop song which had at least decent choreography and the girls performed back then. Though the song wasn't a strong choice, they kept the brand intact and create a distinctive image for themselves which they have kept to this day. They have kept providing pop hits with interesting choreography.
What is Red Velvet's brand? What are they trying to convey? What is the goal of them a group? If their message is to send happinness to people with their music, they will have to provide happy songs with happy lyrics to stay within that brand to not isolate fans.
If I was SM, I would first state what Red Velvet represents. Red Velvet is comfort after a bad long day. Red Velvet is sweet. Red Velvet is full of life to bring you out of the bad times and lead you into the good. (Red Velvet cake was created during WWII when their was a shorting of dye, bakers would use beet juice to color their cakes and brighten people's day so that can be applied as their concept giving them a real identity)

That's true and a valid point. I was more saying song quality though, not band concept. Most groups debut songs are the pits [in comparison to five years down the line], so they should never be judged too harshly. As I've already pointed out/agreed that they are lacking in a concept for sure. You're totally right. RV are still a mystery to us and I'm not sure if that's intentional or not
I'm really actually hoping the R/Y/B thing is true now, because otherwise... I see them being a MILK. A stop off before SM debut an actual successful group. Maybe that's all they are to SM though? Something to bridge the gap?
EDIT: Even their rushed debut... They weren't like announced or anticipated. EXO got 100 teasers. RV got like a Twitter update. It's clear the priorities are different.

I anticipate Krystal leaving Fx and slaying that acting world
Red Velvet and Exo better save SM or it's looking like the cookie with crumble
RISE POORMINUTE, RISE WHILE YOU STILL CAN
4 Minute still can rise, I mean, remember earlier this year, when we had 2NE1 vs SNSD vs 4 Minute
And 4 Minute unexpectedly came out the winner. It was funny to watch the reaction on Roommate

I love 4Minute I really do, only Kpop group I've ever stanned and the first act I've ever stanned as well but even I know that ship sailed in 2010 when Cube ****ed them over by sending them to Japan
