Already more than Usher's next album (if it ever even gets released.) Mess @ Chris with 4x the amount of **** going against him, going to jail, the messiest release of all time, etc. Still being able to put out a record regardless and Usher's getting scrapped.
At the beginning of their careers? Uh yeah he certainly was. And I'm talking about musically. R Kelly was NEVER pop. Usher only started doing pop when he started becoming desperate. Chris was always marketed as the R&B/Poppy kid.
This really isn't true though. Chris' last two top 10's, before Loyal, were literally dance/pop songs. Just because Usher completely sold out within his last couple of years doesn't mean anything. And white people definitely know who Chris is (whether from tabloids or somewhere else) regardless of if his Urban music is played by their stations or not. Especially considering, he is still nominated for every mainstream/white award show Grammy's, AMA's, etc. and still books slots on a lot on mainstream platforms (SNL, DWTS, Jimmy Fallon, etc.)
Chris was way more mainstream targeted (at the beginning of his career) than R Kelly and Usher ever were. (except for maybe when Usher started doing David Guetta songs in the past couple of years but )
No, because Chris has been dabbling with Pop/mainstream sounding **** from the beginning. (Unlike Nicki, who is absolutely and undeniabley a sell out.)

Right.
Different strokes for different artists, clearly.
