I for one find it really interesting how a lot of stans have fooled themselves into thinking this is just an "era" for her so they can use it as ammunition against her in drags.
Beyonce is someone who has always been a strong advocate for gender equality, and wasn't one of the girls who was afraid to have the word "feminist" attached to her reputation because it would make her look too radical or because she "loves men and women both and believes in humanism."
I also find it interesting how a lot of people try to argue that Beyonce's feminism feels less authentic because of her education level and because a lot of her branding deals with women being sexually liberal and in control, but hasn't focused on more complex, inter-sectional issues.
I think that's a load of *********.
Why are people so uncomfortable with the idea of someone like Beyonce being a feminist?
She's one of the biggest celebrities in the world today and she's using her art as a platform to raise awareness for a very important social issue. Why **** on her because of assumptions you have about how much she actually knows? That's regressive and doesn't do anything for the movement.
Sure, she's very "safe" in her approach, but to suggest that she's just doing it to be trendy and sell albums is stupid when 1. y'all have been bringing up receipts daily about how the album is "struggling" and 2. being a feminist is not trendy just because internet activism is permeating a few layers of our social structure. There is still a larger number of people who think feminist are whiny, self-contradicting male-bashers. I think Beyonce is brave for doing what she's done and I think more people should be applauding her instead of always giving her ****.
