1. That interview is old.
2. She said "IF I made a video for that song..." -- so even then, she knew there was a chance it wasn't going to be a single anymore. She never claimed it as a favorite, but knew her biggest fans, in the beginning, kept asking her to release it.
3. Speaking of that interview, told you so (sorry for deleting that post re: original plans, but it didn't belong online).
Don't get me wrong--I actually think "Legendary Lovers" is a bigger hit, but it needs a real remix. Without the drums, it sounds like "Drunk In Love," but with an actual chorus, and stacks of Phil Spector/Mariah-esque wall-to-wall melodies and harmonies. If she's not going to remix it, though, it should be "Walking On Air." She should remix that, too, though. These songs are too old to do well digitally.
I was checking out Billboard on Thursday after the charts already dropped. You all should've seen the comments dragging this song. I would've linked, but I wanted to see how non ATRL'ers felt. Yet again, non/casual fans begging for "Walking On Air." I get it, but I guess I'm just not that hellbent on either one unless they're paired with a killer video and a remix. A "radio mix" by someone who works at UMG isn't going to cut it...doesn't Timbaland owe her one for "If We Ever Meet Again"?
SLW...legit sorry
