Because 90% of the time she was talking about her "art" and how she's such an "artist" and why her "art" is so "artistic." We only didn't notice at the time because we were caught in her spectacle and novelty.
However, It was her "team" who didn't let her release Artpop the way she wanted it to be released (look how it turned it instead), who chose the BTW singles (look how they turned out), who didn't let her release Venus (for which she had already prepared a video, outfits, performances).
