New releases from Kenny Chesney (Blue Chair/Columbia Nashville), Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga (Streamline/Columbia/Interscope) and, in its second week, the latest from Barbra Streisand (Columbia) now all appear headed to the 120-125k range. That last time the Top 3 albums brought in sales greater than 120k each was the week ending 12/29/13. (9/26a)

This. Columbia, in particular, is having such a great time since the release of self-titled!

The people trying to drag the C2C sales are making themselves look like utter idiots that lack common sense tbh I know you want to grasp at whatever straws you can to find reasons to drag Gaga, but you're sacrificing your own common sense for it, which is sad.
Cheek to Cheek is a jazz album. Not a Pop album, not even a poppy jazz album...its straight up jazz. The jazz audience is a very narrow demographic. Nobody was expecting huge numbers for this (I don't know why some of you haters were, considering you love to say how Gaga is "over"....if she's "over", why would you expect huge numbers? )
I'm a Gaga fan and I didn't even buy C2C, it's just not my thing. Maybe I'll buy it eventually. A lot of Gaga fans didn't buy it.
For people bringing up Tony's Duets II album sales......that was an album that was filled with high profile collaborations (lots of different fan bases chipping in), it had great promo, it was released when album sales were higher, and it really didn't sell that much more regardless.
All things considered, the projected sales for Cheek to Cheek are great numbers.

OMG, it's gonna be so close. Obviously I'd like Gaga to snatch, but I'd be happy for Babara as well (I wouldn't be mad if KC snatched, but I don't really care for him so I rather it be one of the girls).

Of course they're great numbers, and you shouldn't even waste your finger strength on the trolls. I mean, a jazz album is selling as much as a country album. Come on, now. People are allowed to bring up every excuse in the book to defend their faves, like "decline of album sales", "no promo", and "no big singles", but Gaga fans can't point out the fact that C2C is literally a niche album targeted at a very specific demographic. Just let them make fools of themselves.

C2C's numbers are looking good, hopefully the album will have some longevity and sell well over the holiday season.
I don't actualy mind if Barbra beats Gaga and Tony to number 1, what with it being that close but it would still be nice for them to get the top spot, come on C2C!!!

Isn't albums like Cheek to Cheek (targeted to an older demographic) projected to have more longevity than pop albums. I mean I can definitely see C2C be a good seller during the holiday season.

If the rate of decline is the same as Duets II, it could sell in the mid-800s by the end of the year and outsell Artpop.
But as y'all may know, the rate of decline has increased each year, and the same artist from one album to the next may go from having great longevity to super frontloadedness.

It still counts, going according to Billboard's calendar. Plus it's the only 2013 release from a female to scan multiplatinum in the US (the biggest music market)

Barbs showing the young divas, how it's done. I won't be surprised if she outsells all the 2014 females releases.

Billboard:

Industry forecasters suggest Chesney and Streisand's new albums may sell around 125,000 each in the week ending Sept. 28, while Bennett and Gaga are aiming for 120,000. Any one of the three albums may come out on top.

So, Billboard is basically saying that Barbra has a slightly better chance than Tony/Gaga?
