Just because the current batch of female pop stars is lacking doesn't mean women as a whole are less talented. Of course female pop singers have lower standards for talent because the industry puts a premium on female beauty.
Meanwhile many ridiculously talented women will get nowhere if they're not sexy enough.
Bob Dylan gets all the praise for the 60s and 70s even though Joni Mitchell was putting out better music, could sing circles around him, and was beautiful to boot. Radiohead get all the praise over Björk even though the same was all true for her. The higher standards for women to even be in the running
