If I'm not mistaken, a lot of big-name publications wait until an album is officially released to do so.

It really deserves to be studied by experts and scholars, because it's something I am genuinely curious about and, unfortunately, am unable to fully comprehend. For some reason, Lady Gaga really is the standard in just about every aspect of the music business, and the sheer amount of interest (and, even more interestingly, interest in negative reviews) in this thread and the success of her "side project" proves that.

Don't kid yourself. No one is interested in her as a person, it's her fans that cause all this. People want to see her fail because her fans like to over exaggerate her entire career. It's been this way since post-Fame Monster. I mean the amount of "Grammy To Grammy" post I've seen before the album even dropped was hilarious in it's own right. I mean every Stan base does this, but hers take it to extreame levels.
They're only interested because as always her fans over-hype and over praise her every move. They just wanna see the reactions when, as always she doesn't live up to it.

What kind of nonsense?
Not everyone is childish enough to give bad reviews etc just because of her fans.
And if so; the reviewer is the unprofessional and childish one.

It's really sad that you can't sense the sarcasm in about 80% of the "Grammy to Grammy" posts.

So, I was at a friend's house this weekend who is a music producer. We talked a lot about music and at some point I asked if he heard about Gaga's new album. He said yes and that he read this terrible review in the Evening Standard earlier that day and showed it to me. I read it and told him "lemme show you a truly negative review". So I logged on ATRL, found this thread and link to the Slant article. He read it out loud and was saying "omg" almost after every sentence. He said it was the most negative review he read in his life
---
Anyway's here's the review from London's Evening Standard. I'm sure it doesn't count for metacritic, but there are plenty reviews in the OP that don't count, so I thought some of you might be interested to read it.

OMG @ Barbra's new album getting panned on Metacritic. That's really weird. Since it was a jazz album and we are struggling finding reviews, all of hers weren't uploaded until the day it came out - it will likely be the same with C2C.

Not as terrible as Slant, but what a mess of an opinion they have. Goody Goody is one of the worst on the album and I think they sound most uninterested on Nature Boy.
And how dare it comes for ETWSG, the underrated gem of the album.
Thank you for posting this, though.

Ye, it's nowhere near as bad as Slant's review and by his "live reaction" to it I realized how incredibly terrible it was, so now I understand why some of you were so upset by it

Gaga, whose free-fall from the upper echelons of pop has been as precipitous as her rise was meteoric.

I can literally feel the passive aggressiveness in 80% of your posts here and I wonder how many of them are about gaga. We all know you live in basement somewhere near a busy underground station of south london and that trying to drag gaga is your only life aspiration. The sad thing about it though is that you always seem to lose... just like your dumb ass reaction to the slant review when right after that we got 2 stunning reviews.

He saw Cheek To Cheek rising on iTunes so he quickly scurried to create some story about how his "friend" read the review, when in reality it was he who read the review and then ran to the computer to post about it.
I normally get why people seethe over Gaga, but jazz being the thing to make people seethe? I never thought I'd see the day.

The fact that everyone knows ARTPOP underperformed and they include it in reviews for Cheek To Cheek too

You guys need to chill, Brando is nowhere near as malicious as you're making him out to be.

MC can be very slow to update the scores at times.

It depends on how you include it, imo. In the CBS interview, they include the under-performance but they don't act like it's the end of her career. In these "reviews", they do. It's malicious and used to poke fun at her and the current state of her career, and it's what they seemingly base their entire review on.

MC is likely waiting until the 23rd to add anything at this point. It's so close and they're known for being impeccably slow (unless it's a bad review ).
