It's nicer to own physical DVDs anyway. You can't really take a movie collection on the go, nor do you have a necessity to. Therefore the physical nature of the media isn't against its environment of use.
Digital + MP3 became such a big deal because people wanted the ability to carry around large amounts of music in compact ways. Film just isn't consumed in the same way, that's why physical sales are still strong in my opinion.
My Uncle is such a cheapo and literally downloads HD movies to his computer, than uses the HDMI cable that comes with your cable box to connect his Laptop to his Flatscreen and it's literally the same as Bluray DVD.
Yeah the average person is not tech savvy to that point and would see it as a hassle.

I prefer owning my music. I also play around with it in audio editing software and like to make my own remixes sometimes.
