The Globes are a corrupt star****er mess so it's no surprise they'd blatantly try to go with a (supposed?) ratings magnet with an award which was most likely paid for
Seems odd after (ignoring Woody Allen) Jodie Foster's heartfelt and touching speech. She was an inspired choice. The globes seemed to have been doing less with the star ****ing the past two years (I'm a Jolie stan but I think nominating her for The Tourist was the straw that broke the camels back and almost completely destroyed their reputation). Their nominations have been better than the Oscars lately tbh.
Set in France during the mid-1970s, Jolie plays Vanessa, a former dancer, and Pitt is her husband Roland, an American writer. As they travel the country together, they seem to be growing apart, but when they linger in one quiet, seaside town they begin to draw close to some of its more vibrant inhabitants, such as a local bar/café-keeper (War Horse and A Prophet‘s Niels Arestrup, pictured below) and hotel owner (Richard Bohringer, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover.)
“I chose to set By the Sea in the 1970s, not only because it is a colorful and alluring era, but because it removes many of the distractions of contemporary life and allows the focus to remain squarely on the emotions that the characters experience in their journey,” Jolie said in a statement to EW.
Universal Pictures will release the film, although no date has been set, and studio chairman Donna Langley said she signed on to make By the Sea after finding Jolie’s script so provocative. “I was struck by the fact that she and Brad are willing to bring such a brave endeavor to screen and take audiences on this raw, emotional journey that’s simultaneously of its moment and surprisingly timeless,” she said.
One performance just flipped the Best Actress race.
Before Toronto it looked like it would be "Wild's" Reese Witherspoon vs. the field for every Best Actress award across the board. One jaw-dropping premiere later and "Still Alice's" Julianne Moore is clearly the new frontrunner. No one would argue the four-time nominee doesn't deserve to join the club and her work in the film is hands down one of the best performances of her career. A lot can happen over five months, but this is one of the biggest bombs dropped on awards season in years.
with a new album coming out in about a month that will be at least 2-3x platinum by May lol I'm sure it will be Taylor.
