Nintendo has to have some surprise up their sleeve for the Wii U version; and since Sakurai did say that the rosters would be the same, I would imagine that the Wii U version would come with a handful of new characters that could be unlocked via linking to the 3DS version through your Nintendo Network ID.

Woo lordT! A $100 DLC is what you're basically asking for. I mean, you'll have to buy both game.

I'm here for Ridley because people have been waiting for him for years. He's an iconic character and Metroid deserves the respect over a game like Fire Emblem.


And there will definitely be DLC packs, probably two, and each will contain 3-5 characters, a stage for each character and four or five new items. Nintendo is not going to miss that chance to milk another $11 from each player for one of their best-selling franchises just like they did with Mario Kart 8.

Isn't this kind of dependent on Sakurai tho

Since he's the designer and the one behind all of it, he mentioned before how much making and programming characters for smash is a lot of work. I'm sure Nintendo and Miyamoto would pressure him to do so, seeing as how well the Mario Kart one did, but ultimately it'd be his choice to pump out DLC or not. At least I think so? Unless they threaten to fire him of course
