And there will definitely be DLC packs, probably two, and each will contain 3-5 characters, a stage for each character and four or five new items. Nintendo is not going to miss that chance to milk another $11 from each player for one of their best-selling franchises just like they did with Mario Kart 8.

Isn't this kind of dependent on Sakurai tho
Since he's the designer and the one behind all of it, he mentioned before how much making and programming characters for smash is a lot of work. I'm sure Nintendo and Miyamoto would pressure him to do so, seeing as how well the Mario Kart one did, but ultimately it'd be his choice to pump out DLC or not. At least I think so? Unless they threaten to fire him of course
