Yeah, but Coldplay's entire output seems MOR to me, and they have the unfortunate stain of debuting in the post-Radiohead world and sounding a bit like a popped up version of them.

Unfortunately, U2 is the subject of the same criticism:

In My Mind isn't that great, but it has "Number One" on it. Pharrell is better at producing. I feel like his wave is similar to Cee Lo's a few years ago, except bigger. I prefer him with NERD/Neptunes, just like I prefer Cee Lo with Goodie Mob and Gnarls Barkley.

But were any of those bands hipster favorites? Maybe Linkin Park. Don't know much about 3StM except for Jared Leto, and those other bands felt like MTV/TRL fodder.

I always have vivid flashbacks of listening to them in 2006 as a kid when I listen to Pussycat Dolls.

I really loved 2 or 3 songs. ESPECIALLY Don't Cha & Buttons.

Coldplay never had hipster cred, they've always been mainstream. But it's true critical appreciation has gone down the drain, you can only have so many songs with "wooah woaahh ohhh youuuuuhhh" as lyrics.

PATD and FOB fall in that awkward period between the scene kids and the rise of the modern hipsters. They were always hated by the indie publications, but loved by the hipsters of the day. teehee
