It's fairly rated. Singles didn't sell as much pre digital era but it's had amazing longevity, is still relevant and current sounding today, has over 100M YouTube views despite being uploaded 6 years after its debut indicating people are still interested, managed to keep selling to ~2M in the US despite only being certified Gold during it's prime etc. It's an undisputed classic



Also, using deflated stats in the OP is a bit weak CIL was last reported at 1.959M in the US I believe and is thought to have easily crossed 2M by now

It's around 1.7 million digital copies. I'm sure it's well over 2 million if you factor in physical sales.

I think you're wrong if you want to measure how it's rated by the idea that some other songs have sold more. The best way to test a song of that age. It's been 11 years already is its memorability and replay value in this day and age. Which to be fair seems to have a good one. I mean you go to concerts of other artists and you won't escape without hearing it in pre-show. JT 20/20 experience for example. Commercials, runaways, movie trailers etc. Still present. And the song sounds fresh enough

The fact that the song went no.1 in three countries and top ten in only 11 other countries yet umbrella went no. 1 in over twenty countries and toxic went no.1 in 5 countries and top 10 in 15 just shows how overrated the success of CiL is.
