"Pop girls" don't release critically acclaimed albums like Beyoncé; not in this day and age.
It's not like it was acclaimed because the music was amazing or it's a classic album. It was acclaimed because of the shock value. I have a love/hate thing with Bey but I can see right through her hype/smoke machine PR. Beyonce sold out and became a surprise queen the minute after she started flopping and not a second after. Flaunting her baby bump around on stage. A formerly fiercely private woman about her personal life.
Her current album is not better than 4- one that will age better and which- if expertly handled (meaning by her dad)- could have catered to her adult contemporary and indie audiences seamlessly.
As anyone who has a relative or friend who has suffered from Alzheimer’s disease knows, the Alice we meet at the beginning of the film will not be the Alice we meet at the end. And because of that the film lives and dies on Moore’s portrayal. She succeeds smashingly.
My grandfather passed away from Alzheimers back in 2007. My mother is going to love this movie/become a JM stan. She already hates NO for being an "ugly man stealer".

4 had so much potential "Love on Top" could have been a real smash.
In truth, BEYONCE would be a 60 or so. Everyone knows that videos make songs better (usually). She loses at least 17 points from that. Then she has some DUDS on the album like every song except "Jealous", so...

"Sold out" to what? Beyonce has always been an opportunist.
Lorde and Sia are now "pop girls"? Y'all say stuff so conveniently.
They make pop music
Unless you mean "pop girl" = skinny pop star with choreo and wind machine in which case there is still Taylor, but that's a pretty narrow definition considering how blurred genres are becoming in the mainstream now.
Mathew already admitted that Bén his media image was carefully calculated and paid for. He has enough money now to perpetuate whatever opinion that comes of it.
Music alone, Bén just does not stack up to what has been written about him. He continues to fail to deliver.

It's not what eye mean. It's ATRL's text definition of pop girls.
