I thought Taylor was really good at the Grammy's last year too. My mom, despite being a fan, warned me ahead of time that Taylor isn't a good singer when she went up to the stage but we all felt it was a marked improvement.

Why did KP perform Firework so terribly consistently? Did she hate it? She's always been a mediocre performer but she's always occasionally given a decent/good performance for a single run. Firework was just a disaster. I keep finding one that is more worse than the other as time goes by.
Taylor is not a good vocalist but she has potential - especially if she takes vocal lessons. I don't know even know how she got to where she is with no vibrato (a necessity for any singer). I guess her songwriting is just that great. Either way, there isn't much use in debating about these two's vocals cause..

She does have vibrato. It's just very rarely used.
Taylor has a very limited range but she performs good because her songs are all not that challenging to sing. Katy's songs have those booming choruses that are obviously way too much for her to handle. And unlike Rihanna, she's not smart enough to just let the backtrack or backing singers sing the hard parts.
But when Katy performs acoustic ala Taylor, she does decently.
Thanks though, you are right, she does sound okay. I wonder if she just has terrible stage freight or has awful anxiety when handling a stage? I notice she is much better in smaller environments.
