Call Me Maybe and STIUTK were ubiquitous in 2012 but they're both pretty much forgotten now. That goes for a lot of songs.
When was the last time you heard either?
Those (+ Gangnam Style) are the most remembered songs of 2012 by far, though. We Are Young being close but not quite to them as well.
Calvin/John probably going #1 with an OA/OS release in the UK is just really astonishing, a very rare feat. And it's not like Prayer in C has low sales.
ASFoS is okay, but overall it's a nice song. I agree it's kind of bland and dated sounding.
It's the best song of the album (which is really good btw), it's a really emotional song. I have cried with this song, it's simple but with such a beautiful lyrics + melody. I feel it like a sad song but with a happpy end
And yet it's still fending off SIO. Slay AATB. They are trying everything to make SIO smash. There are like hundreds of flash mobs videos for SIO, but none of them have gone viral.
I'm excited to see what happens with sales in October. Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line are going to release at that time and they are the biggest Country acts right now (and Luke Bryan obviously). I want to see if the sales decline have some effect on their opening sales
