It's a way to keep relevance. Even more because their last comeback didn't do as good as expected. They should've promoted more this year. Even if the first try flopped, they would have other chance. Not saying they should've made 8 comebacks like BAP did at a certain point, but at least two would be fine.
She plays a role, but she's not the key. To be honest, it doesn't make much difference when she's not there as she usually has short lines which the other members can take care of.
The only members that make a big impact if they are not there are Jessica and Taeyeon.
On a serious note and no shade at all, is it really best for JYP to give them a drinking/drunk party concept with Nickchun's past (Drunk Driving Scandal) which is in essence why they didn't do as well their previous comebacks in my personal opinion because JYP and 2PM made it a big deal by pulling the entire group out of promotions.
