If I'm 100% honest, Nicki's not like other rappers. She's basically 50% rapper, 50% Pop star in the GP's eye. Hip-Hop fans don't view her in the same way as let's say Jay-Z. You can't compare her to other Pop stars, but you can't compare her to other big name rappers either.

That's not true. Waybe's name is just as big as Drake's. He just hasn't released a single as big as previously, but that doesn't mean he can't get a hit anymore. He's just not trying to get a hit, he's just releasing music a la Lana.

not to compare Nicki to Drake (I hate doing that) but he opened with 600k last year with a decent pop/crossover hit. It's all in marketing regardless of hit singles. Nicki has catered to her core (urban) and it's showing, just look at the urban and rhythmic radio charts right now. With a good promotional plan + holiday sales she'll do VERY well first week.
