nn y'all are trash for outing Power & Control though. Like how the hell did anyone think the social commentary and complexity of it with those pounding synths was worse than the garbage that is Burn, or Radioactive, or ****ing Stronger for christ's sake.
Like even from a basic POV Marina still did fun pop a million times better than the majority of the people in the rate.

I still think the whole EH concept followed the music more than the other way round but it was good enough to justify it. I even like HTBAHB

See that's the issue in the grand scheme of things; people just don't get Electra Heart so it comes off as a generic pop album when it's literally one of the most brilliant and clever album concepts I've ever known.
I mean from Teen Idle with Marina explaining how she fought for what she thought she wanted as a teen until she realised everything we do as teens is superficial and futile, to Homewrecker the story of someone who unintentionally destroys families and comments on love so blatantly with lines like deception and perfection are wonderful traits, one will breed love, the other hate to Power & Control describing the struggle of power in a relationship and how it will rage on for eternity (women and men we are the same, but love will always be a game. We give and take a little more, eternal game of tug and war).
The album is a lyrical masterpiece and the fact that she managed to make the whole thing sound so commercial as a laugh in the laugh at anyone that ever sold out is genius.
Regardless of all that though, if you take P&C as a solo song it's a huge bop with awesome overpowering synths and amazing lyrics.
Meanwhile and we gonna let it burn, burn, burn, burn, we gonna let it burn, burn, burn is supposedly better.

I think you missed my point. I was saying that she seemed to come up with the concept to allow her to make more chart friendly music, and that even though it's kinda transparent the music is strong enough to pull it off, which is no mean feat
