BTW sold double what Prism has, so I don't think so.
This might be her 4 era (except the music isn't as good).

Another reason why Prism isn't Katy Perry's Born This Way: with BTW, Gaga was able to gather Critical Acclaim: the year the album was released, 3 of its songs figured in the New York Pazz and Jop Singles top 100 and a total of 6 figured in the top 200. Born This Way's Metascore on Reviews aggregating site Metacritic was 71. When Prism was released, only two of its songs figured in the top 200 and the album's Metascore was 61 - something impressive for Katy's standarts, Kats said, since her previous highest score was a 52 with the release of Teenage Dream.

.
Prism won't even come close to how much BTW sold or its tour gross either.

BTW the album sold more
BTW received stellar reviews, PRISM was more on the mixed side
Too early to compare the tours
Conclusion
Katy had the bigger singles by far bc of Roar and DH
Gaga had bigger album sales and reviews
But it feels like most people are still into Katy, unlike Gaga towards the end of the BTW era
So Katy wins imo

Except Applause is in ARTPOP and not in BTW

I mean, the BTW era was risky for Gaga and was hard for the public to digest. Prism is as safe as you can get for a mainstream pop star, so if Katy's singles are underperforming, it's only the result of the music being mediocre/people not being interested.

You act like she died on the cross or something. BTW underperformed because people were over it. They were over the preachy ****, the costumes, the dance music, her fans, etc.

nnn
so you agree it was hard for the public to digest? Glad we're on the same page!
Speaking of dying on crosses, I remember when people tried to boycott Queen after Judas (although that song still ended up going Top 10). Wow, the BTW era was really risky. Proud of Gaga for not caring The fact that she released a country-esque ballad and went Top 10
What's Katy's excuse?

When Katy can sell over a million albums in one week, then she'll have her BTW era. Prism is doing fine, y'all are so paranoid.

Meh, BTW's single underperformances were still bigger than Katy's despite receiving abysmal radio support unlike Unconditionally and Birthday reaching 80M+ AI each and two official remixes being pushed.
Judas still went top 10 both in US and worldwide, You & I did the exact same and went 2x platinum in US, MTN actually managed to chart inside top 25 worldwide and breaking VEVO's 24 hour record at that time.
Compare this to Unconditionally failing to go top 10 worldwide and US, Birthday only going gold and TIHWD having YET to chart inside top 40 worldwide.

People being over something =/= it being "risky" in the way you're trying to use it.

Building a whole album/era around gay acceptance, while looking like an alien isn't risky?

In US yes, but BTW remains a much bigger global hit. It's one of the only western singles to cross 1M in Japan, went #1 on more charts than Roar and DH, and it's lowest peak on a chart was #5.
