They seem to almost always have ulterior motives for choosing to review pop albums. They also deliberately don't publish for many albums which reviewers enjoy and reference retroactively.

But I guess it shouldn't really be surprising...they are an independent music publication. They really have only ever acknowledge mainstream pop on best-of lists.
