Pitchfork is a joke, though. Not disputing whether or not Ariana Grande deserves that score since I haven't heard the entire album, but just based on other critics and people's reactions + the singles and promo songs, it seems that they are trying to get passed the criticism that they cater too much to hipster/alternative/underground music by given what they usually think is "bad" decent passing scores. For instance, I don't remember "Teenage Dream" or "Only Girl (In The World)" being ranked high on any year-end list by them, yet they ranked high on the "so far, decade" thing.
I don't know why people take them so seriously. But it's mainly an Internet forum thing, based on my observation.
