From what she said at the VMA's, probably some crazy LSD trippie hallucinogenic music / imagery, crazy ass **** (if she does stuff like that, I hope she gives at least ONE hardcore trance song). Personally, I wouldn't mind it, as long as she doesn't take it just that one step too far like in that Flaming Lips video - that would be a complete turn off to the GP. Her take on this crazy hippie music with TFL could be completely different than what it was on Lucy In the Sky. She could take it into a more trip/hop, dream pop, ethereal or ambient route.
But, will she stick to her word come her next single? Probably not. There's two realities to what she may do - what she said and what she appears to be doing AS WELL AS what is best in terms of marketing and image. I wouldn't be surprised to see an album that's like TTOOL mixed with CBT but updated for todays market.

However, I'd like a more worldly image. I'd prefer her to go back to being brunette, experiment with world music from all over - traditional Chinese instruments for some songs, do some Indian sounds (like with a sitar and tanpura), just go ALL over the world with different sounds from all over (of course she'd be adapting them to pop music, but adding elements from all of these different regions into it). I feel like she could do some amazing music, and possibly get that #criticalacclaim. Vocally, I'd like to hear a more whispery tone from her - she's never really done a sexy vocal delivery (a la Britney's Breathe on Me or Madonna's Justify My Love) and I feel like that's something new she could bring to the table.
Clothing-wise, idek what she'd do, it'd probably be ~controversial~ of her to wear other cultures clothing to match the music with all this ~cultural appropriation awareness~ stuff going around lately but it'd be such a 180 from the Bangerz era. I feel like she would stun in such different looks.
Overall, I just want something FRESH and EXCITING - something no other pop star is putting out atm. I feel like Miley is one of the few pop stars out there that can do something exciting, new, experimental and interesting and really hit it out of tha park.
Will she EVER do this? Not a chance in helllllllll, but a stan can dream!
The indirect darkness of it all is everything. 
I want Miley to grow and not be the 'old Miley' again. I'm all for a flower child era. It's a little more tamed but at least still gives Miley some edge without being too safe and boring.
