I think it's because she always does first premiere performance on VMA, so she still hasnt known what's good for her
Like that climbing part ruined the bridge
So she probably wont do that again, etc
Also because it's always something which is new, not Taylor-ish, and she performs it in front off Beyonce, Rihanna, or Miley, not Tim McGraw who will give her standing ovation even though she performed in pink sweater with sick voice
)
