People have only really started going off about "cultural appropriation" in recent years. The idea that people should only use things from their own cultures is ridiculous and gives me segregation teas. As long as you're not being disrespectful what's the problem? The social justice warriors should focus on actual issues like police racism or rape culture not a white girl wearing a kimono. Gwen is flawless though and I live for her shady gifs from last night.

I think because she was in an interracial r/ship for such a long period of time, she was afforded a...kind of bye from critics, fans, gen pop. Plus the fact her music was always marketed towards that certain demographic, persons of colour, that you always knew her act wasn't racist at all.

Miley and Taylor haven't ever shown that level of respect or regard to PoC culture so it does seem that its all a ploy to sell records.

I find it being a good way to expose different kinds of cultures to people which can result to it being more accepted and "normal." But don't drag me, I'm not a sociology major.
