I was thinking about how AKMU's Play was easily YG's (or possibly overall) most consistent and best release this year so far, and the fact they had every single say in how their album was to sound probably helped that out a lot, since the bother wrote and produced that album solely, which is amazing. You can tell YG probably wasn't nitpicking in his ear and left him to his own devices. The result is amazing. Still listen to it daily and is genuinely becoming one of my favourite albums ever.

Where ever did I post WINNER was original? Never did I, I said they debuted with songs that other groups didn't do. Do EXO debut with a ballad? Did Block B? Did BTS? Did 2NE1? Did SNSD? No. The only group and I say group loosely that debuted this year with a ballad was AKMU and Melted on Kpopstar. An artists image isn't based on the songs on the albums because not all koreans listen to a full album but on the songs they go out and promote on shows and put on Youtube with MVs and performance videos. And its like you all forget I actually like MAMAMOO and comparing this to Korea's most sucessful girl group is far from being insulting. But of course, y'all took it as an insult.

And if you actually looked at my sources, that I linked reminding people of WONDER GIRLS not all of them were about Peppermint Chocolate, most of them were about Mr. Ambiguous. Only one was about Peppermint Chocolate but drag without fully reading what is said I guessed. ANd the fact you tried to pull the ballad argument on WINNER be using EXO then try to make it about MAMAMOO...kii. My opinion, I see Wonder Girls 2.0 when i see MAMAMOO for their imagery to the doo wops to their choreography somewhat. Others see it too. I don't give two craps if none of the rest of you can see it or hear it because deep down, it doesn't ****ing matter. MAMAMOO gets labeled as Wonder Girls 2.0 bigger and better, they get uber successful in Korea? Mamamoo have no noticeable similarities to the Wonder Girls besides imagery. A lot of people who make these comparisons are extremely musically illiterate; they hear a horn and suddenly it's "retro". It reminds me of when IU and Hyori's albums were out and people were like "OMG!!! They both did jazz!!!". Like...no...not even close. IU did one jazzy track and then some swing and trot-influenced songs, and Hyori went cabaret altogether.

Likewise, nothing about Mamamoo is retro. Their sound on Mr. Ambiguous is influenced more by big band than anything else, which is an offshoot of jazz that incorporates swing elements. Even Peppermint Chocolate, which has some synths in it, contains like the barest whisper of retro in the vocodered part. Not even sort of close to anything WG-related.
