Yes she has done well at the slams this year but you just mentioned all the reasons why she won't win: she hasn't done much other tournaments, she has won one match since Wimbledon, injury,... It won't happen sis.

The ranking points with the US Open points off and assuming Kvitova loses in the semis

Kvitova: 5526 pts

(1) If Serena loses in the first round, Halep loses in the first round and Kvitova wins the points will be

Serena: 7435 pts
Halep: 6475 pts
Kvitova: 7526 pts

(2) Halep loses in the second round and Kvitova wins

Serena: 7535 pts

For Kvitova's scenario here on out, Serena has to lose 1st round

Halep failed to defend her trophy as she went out in the 2nd round to Rybarikova... Rybarikova made the final and will meet the winner of Kvitova vs Stosur.

She still deserves it imo, I mean sure she's flopped at the slams but it's not like the other slam winners have had stellar years either

Maria is a flop off of clay

Li is an inconsistent and injured mess

Petra showed up for exactly two tournaments all year long (and has the chance of being number 1, smh)

and while Serena hasn't won a slam, she has the most titles out of everyone this year . Idk I'd say even Ivanovic deserves the number 1 ranking more than the 3 slam winners (well maybe not Maria but it's close)
