I think the "issue" is more to do with how silly the song is, not her being successful. I think it's great she's going to smash into the Top 5, but this song isn't respected at all. The dislikes bar is getting bigger too.

Starships wasn't respected at all either. And the dislike bar is extremely irrelevant. It's not 2012. People can dislike all they want, because they're still watching and their view counts as a stream.

Yeah but I don't think anybody considered Starships a parody song. It was just sugary pop.

It actually kills me one of the Barbz here has been going around saying "Nicki has a hit single and its HIP-HOP". The song is rap no doubt but its hip-hop in a Fergie/My Humps kinda way.

Oh whatever though. The video is excellent so congrats to Nicki on getting a hit. I think her image is considered as low-brow as ever, that's my only negative.

I don't mean it like that. I mean that when SH was getting dislikes in 2012 it was when streaming didn't count for the Hot 100 + the song itself didn't shoot into the Top 10 on iTunes afterwards.
