Hard Out Here is a racist mess.
I knew Lord hanging out with white feminists like Lena Dunham was gonna do no good.
I feel like She just about toes the line with the "Shake It Off" without becoming racially problematic, but I do think it's kind of uncomfortable, and I can see why people see it as Her appropriating black culture.

But Her team is insanely clever, and all the smoke and mirrors surrounding that scene (which they know would be provocative, that's why they made it the screencap image) with the cheerleaders/ballet/etc etc kind of pre-emptively justifies the twerking and the *shudders* crawling underneath the dancers with a look of fascination. And in Her interviews She's already subtly stressed these justifications. She's having Her cake and eating it too.
But get those views.
