Well technically 2008 has been Rihanna's year so the award rightfully belongs to her. Britney's a nice girl though, I'm sure she doesn't mind sharing the spotlight. She can let this year slide and take over in 2009.
lol. The most pointless statement ever. What does Britney has to do with his Rihanna opinion? GGGB outsold Blackout and Umbrella was bigger than Gimme More, DUH. Every artist can become bigger than other at some point and Britney has her own status and accomplishments, so?
And btw, 2008 is Leona's year. She has the biggest album and single.

“Im not trying to diss Britney or anything like that. One of my favorite songs last year was “Gimme Gimme.” Like, I love that record. But I just feel like Rihanna had a really breakout year and became the biggest artist… like Rihanna sells more records than me all together if you include her in national sales and she is arguably the biggest artist in the world right now.“
