It's hard to define an entire decade but based on my knowledge and a Wikipedia search there was a lot of synth pop, urban pop (MJ/Prince), uplifting bubblegum/teen pop (early Madonna/Cyndi) and New Wave. It also saw the emergence of contemporary R&B and house but I couldn't see Taylor doing either of them. I'd be here for synth pop/new-wave. I don't mind some bubblegum/teen/urban pop but too much would be overkill.
