On June 12, at least six were injured in São Paulo when military police threw gas grenades and fired rubber bullets at protesters.[11] Governor Geraldo Alckmin of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party justified the aggression of the military police, saying that their goal was to prevent the protesters from blocking a major traffic artery leading to the football stadium.[12]
In the first week of the Cup, there were more than 20 protests and 180 arrests across the various cities, many resulting in police action.[13] In Porto Alegre on June 24, around 200 protesters gathered in the city center and travelled toward the airport. The group was accompanied by police, and disbursed with one protester being arrested for deflating the tires of a car.[14]

On July 13, the final day of the Cup, police in Rio de Janeiro injured at least ten journalists with clubs, and shrapnel from tear gas grenades. Police kettled the 300 protesters, preventing them from marching to their destination, Maracanã Stadium. Military Police told BBC Brazil that they would forward reports of police abuse to Internal Affairs
Yep, and more people got harmed just because they couldn't kick a ball in a goal.

Not in Grad school. The funding doesn't come from the school but from whichever company is supporting the research project. I can afford UT Austin anyway and it's an excellent university so...
Mike Brown was literally chased by the cops, and after they ordered him to lay down, WHICH HE DID, they shot him immediately, went to his corpse and shot him several more times for god knows what reason. The cop who did it, lied about how he was struggling when there are multiple eye witnesses to say otherwise, but because they're black, their words don't do much.
The cop also changed him name on Facebook to "Scooby" and said stuff among the lines of "Now they'll never find me" in the comments of his profile picture.
People weren't even rioting, they were peacefully protesting, literally standing with their arms in the air begging for the police not to shoot them. And what did the police do? Throw teargas and rubber bullets at them, injuring even the media.

I had no idea you are a high school student You also have SAT/ACT, personal statements, and extracurricular that factor into admissions, and they do make a difference! UCLA is a great university. Also, if you get in and accept, you just might run into Lana there.
Ugh. I always hate when the Oscars do those tacky openings where they have to give a long drawn out speech towards every nominee. If you thought people were mean to Anne, you should've seen the vitrol thrown at Kate that year (btw Anne Hathaway should have won that year, Rachel Getting Married is brilliant).
I remember. They said she was too eager or something. People just anything to pick at imo. Her panting like she ran a marathon was hilarious.
