This is making me laugh because all I can picture is a Little Monster sitting at home in their homemade bubble dress repeatedly refreshing iTunes and crying every time 'This Is How We Do' moves up a spot.
I know Taboo already clocked on the last couple of pages, but this idea that Katy being successful means Gaga is not, is ludicrous. A popstar's success does not depend on other people failing or succeeding, there are enough people on this planet for all the popstars to succeed.
Album #5 will (hopefully) be a success. Almost every 4th album flops, with the exception of Madonna and Britney. See Beyonce's 4th album '4'. Everyone called it a flop. And then she came strong with her self-titled 5th album. And Rihanna is another example, her 4th album 'Rated R' flopped. Then 'LOUD' happened, which's her 5th album.
Gaga will be fine. She just needs an accessible, catchy music.
I can't see Gaga making The Fame - The Fame Monster ish music again and i doubt she'll release safe radio songs anytime soon. G.U.Y. sounds like something inspired by Poker Face and Love Game but that kind of sound with her current look isn't going to work.
Album #5 should be a ballads album about Taylor and stuff. I think that way she could get back in the game.

I just think her style of music is not very in right now. She def. needs to breathe fresh air into her music.
Probably less Dance/EDM more organic sounding.
Plus the world would be shocked for her to release a ballad as a first single from a new album. But not Y+I, something more like Frozen, you know.
No one would be shocked if she followed the trend and released a ballad, nor would anyone care. No one looks to Gaga for what's trendy, they look to Gaga for what's different. Considering how people latched onto DWUW, maybe a more urban electro sound would work. A good urban song is something everyone always loves.

By accessible music, I don't mean generic nor following what's on the radio. I mean understandable lyrics, good melodies. Anything would smash with those, regardless of the genre.
Also Just Dance is not in Gaga's top 20 songs. #fact

There will probably always be SOMEONE smashing whilst she isn't, but that doesn't mean she can't and won't succeed herself. If she's lucky, she can have a second/third peak that rivals the initial Gaga phenomenon, but that doesn't need to happen any time soon to validate her. Madonna, Cher, Kylie etc. had years inbetween their peaks, and when you consider they had to be around for DECADES to experience that and Gaga's only been here for 5 years - I hope that puts things in perspective. Ultimately, Katy is going to do her thing and she'll do it well, but I really don't see - even with her stans - that people treat or respect her success in the way that they did with Gaga, Adele and Beyonce. She's fun. Light relief. Put it this way - Big Bang Theory slays ratings as the most watched show in America, wins awards etc etc. but people rave about Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad. They have cult followings and kudos as cultural phenomenons that changed the game.

This gives me heavy gaga-tweet: "when I announce the album date we'll have a big party" fans thinking "oh a big party is her birthday / just dance release / grammy win / ANY DATEEE" - teas.
It's all nonesense. We know Gaga can't shut up about dates so if there was something to announce she would have said it already.
Plus are we really forgetting about C2C? I highly doubt she'd release Act 2 / Anything on the app just before C2C drops.
Time to put these rumours aside and get them back again at the end of year, ok?
