I don't think they really changed the ending, they are just saying that to generate interest from the book readers. They probably made it so the reveal is a little more intense and at the end. I;m guessing they moved some stuff from the end into the middle part and Nick has to discover the rest.

Well, the general plot has not changed, she still planned everything, yet I wonder whether he kills her at the end. For me, the book ending is perfect. They're both totally ****ed up and deserve to live with each other till the rest of their ****ing lives.

I think she will show up on the house at the middle, and Nick will have to investigate and discover what happened. I think they will keep the ending, or maybe leave it open as she appears dead or something.
